Your Headache May Be Caused By Swollen Gums
Dental conditions can contribute to headache and migraine. Swollen gums caused by dental abscesses, post extraction and difficulties with the joint of the jaw can cause pain in the face and the head. Stress being a popular factor in the development of various medical conditions. When you are stressed the body tends not to function to their full potential and you will notice that you are susceptible with various medical conditions flu, headaches and back pain. Stress weakens the immune system thus making the body susceptible with bacteria.
Common stressors are associated to flare-up gum disease such as bleeding and swollen gums. Gum disease and swollen gums are primarily caused by bacteria. Untreated swollen gums can advance to periodontitis affecting gum tissues and bones. Delaying the treatment may cause further pain and discomfort. For chronic and persistent swollen gums and gum disease, pain and difficulty in the jaw can be experienced and may trigger headache and migraine.
No need for headache and migraine due to gum disease to take effect if swollen gums are prevented early. And it can be achieved by having a good oral hygiene that includes regular brushing and flossing combined with regular dental visits. And although stress is not directly a cause of gum disease, bad social habits such as smoking, excessive alcohol intake and teeth grinding should be avoided for it can aggravate the condition and affect our dental health.
